North Rigton Traffic – the impact from future developments

PROTECT OUR VILLAGE AND THE ENTIRE PARISH OF NORTH RIGTON
– NOW!

Your parish council has been meeting with other councils and neighbourhood committees in the area to decide upon the next stage of our battle to change the Harrogate Development Plan. The plan is now with the Planning Inspector who will, after reading all the documentation submitted, hold an enquiry in the Autumn/Winter of 2018. We now have one more opportunity to influence the outcome of the inspector’s decision.

We have taken professional advice which indicates that the impact of traffic from the developments to the West of Harrogate, upon the communities in that area and beyond, has been greatly underestimated in the HBC Plan. The report by the traffic consultants employed by North Yorkshire County Council contains serious errors and greatly underestimates the full impact of these developments. North Rigton does not even appear on any of the HBC or traffic consultant’s maps! No account appears to have been taken of the impact on our community.

We, together with Pannal & Burn Bridge Parish Council, Beckwithshaw Parish Council and Harlow And Pannal Ash Community Association (HAPARA) have agreed to make one more attempt to change the plan. We have agreed to engage a firm of traffic consultants ourselves, to prepare a report for the inspector which will look at the cumulative impact of the housing on our communities, volumes of traffic, pollution and damage to our rural environment.

As a Parish Council we have covered all the previous expenditure on our objections and reports from our regular precept, however we have not sufficient funds for this sort of additional expenditure, so we need your help.

We are setting up a “fighting fund” to enable us to pay a contribution towards the cost of a professional report and its presentation on your behalf to the inspector.

If you feel that traffic is already a problem in the village and on our rural roads throughout the Parish, they will undoubtedly worsen due to the housing developments set out in the HBC plan. So please support us by making a donation to our fighting fund. If you want further information please speak with one of your councillors.

To contribute to the fighting fund:
By cheque to:
North Rigton Parish Council and post to Mike Richards, Hurcroft House, Harrogate Road, Huby, LS170EF or hand it to one of your Parish Councillors.
By bank transfer to:
HSBC Bank: Sort Code: 40-23-12 Account: 21038303 Ref: Traffic
All contributions, large and small, will be most welcome.

Thank you.
